Hypocrisy, Republicans Seeking to Hold Attorney General Eric Holder Responsible for Guns Operation that Began in the Bush Era, While Currently Opposing Gun Control Laws concerning Known Terrorist

I should say this is another blog on the Hypocrisy of our Republican Leaders.  It definitely isn’t the only blog on the Hypocrisy of our Republican leaders.   As a common practice most Republican, leaders, and Republican supporters and lobbyist like the National Rifle Association to the United States Chamber of Commerce are opposed to gun regulations. They know of no other Rights but their own. They know how to promote and invoke the 2nd Amendment, but when it comes to your rights not so much. If you at just this year alone Republican leaders have demonstrated they no respect for the Civil Rights Acts (ex. all these Voter ID Bills and trying to prevent voter registration), no respect for Women’s Right, (I guess according to Republican leaders women can’t think for themselves). Republican Leaders have clearly have not respected the LBGT community of their rights to live freely from being condemned by society.

For the most part Republicans leaders seem to be always ready to got to war. They are always ready to fight someone. Being ready to go to war and supporting measures to have National Security are two different things. First of all when it came to protect our borders Republicans refused funding for it until it was a matter of immigration and preventing Mexicans from coming into the country.

Needless to say this blog is about the hypocrisy of our Republican leaders. Currently Republicans in Congress are full speed ahead over Operation Fast and Furious. Their ‘End Goal’ is to oust Attorney General Eric Holder from the Justice Department. Those same members of Congress are going after Attorney General Eric Holder, but they are the very ones against gun law regulations such as regulations such as serial numbers on bullets for identification purposes to regulations that require background checks before purchasing a gun, from where a person can carry a gun, etc., etc, etc.

Republicans were very much against calling into questions gun control laws when a then Virginia Tech student went on a rampage killing students. That student had document mental illness issues, but mental illness cases may not be found in a back ground check. In 2011 after the Virginia Tech massacre in a 2011 article called “Few states follow mental-health gun law” by USA Today it writes about how more than half of the states had not shared the names of someone with a mental illness to the national background-check system.

Let’s face it, if the only law concerning Guns in this country were bills passed by a lot of these Republican Leaders, we would for the most part not have one single gun control bill in this country. The gun control in this country would amount to nothing more than laws like ‘Stand Your Ground’. To put it blunt theUnited Stateswould still be something out of the West, with gun toting people coming up with excuses for their quick use of a gun.

Certainly state by state especially Republican held legislatures in the majority they have done a good job at weakening Gun Control Laws, but then Republicans don’t like regulation. In another earlier blog I blogged about the Republicans sponsoring Bill H.R. 2568 ” To prevent the Secretary of the Treasury from expanding United States bank reporting requirements with respect to interest on deposits paid to nonresident aliens.”

In other words they prefer not for the Secretary of the Treasury to question if you are providing funds in a bank account for some who is not a citizen of theUnited States

This is a common pattern Republicans Leaders have with diluting or National Security for thing that is only a concern to them and not the betterment of the country.

The circumstances surrounding Operation Fast and Furious began under George Bush’s Presidency in 2005, Attorney General Eric Holder; he is just the Republican Scapegoat for doing a successful job at going after the criminal of this country and because ultimately he was gives the job by President Obama.

A Brief history at Operation Fast and Furious that began under George Bush, 2005

Project Gunrunner is an operation of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) intended to stem the flow of firearms intoMexico, in an attempt to deprive the Mexican drug cartels of weapons. [1]

In early 2011, the operation became controversial when it was revealed that Operation Fast and Furious and other probes under Project Gunrunner had allowed guns to “walk” into the hands of Mexican drug cartels since as early as 2006.

The ATF began Project Gunrunner as a pilot project inLaredo,Texas, in 2005 and expanded it as a national initiative in 2006. Project Gunrunner is also part of the Department of Justice’s broader Southwest Border Initiative, which seeks to reduce cross-border drug and firearms trafficking and the high level of violence associated with these activities on both sides of the border. [4]

I would think that President’s Obama’s goal of wanting to have serial  numbers placed on bullets would have certainly could have served it’s purpose here and providing a way to trace any unlawful gun activity in this country.  The President proposed this ideal when he first took office.  However such groups like your Republicans leaders, Lou Dobbs, and your National Rifle Association thought that President was going to take their guns and ruining their Second Amendment.   The Obama Administration tried over and over to tell them the President was not trying to take their guns but know one could get pass such thick skulls.  President Obama elected to office in 2008, but it was in September 2011 that some Republicans realized that the President was not trying to take their guns.  No instead, they said the President was waiting till 2012 to take their guns.

Media Matters writes on September 26, 2011 about this new supposed Conspiracy theory about President Obama from the Vice-President of the National Rifle Association, Wayne LaPierre.

Media Matters writes:

And Obama himself is no fool.  So when he got elected, they concocted a scheme to stay away from the gun issue, lull gun owners to sleep, and play us for fools in 2012. Well, gun owners are not fools, and we are not fooled. We see the president’s strategy crystal clear: get re-elected, and with no other re-elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms freedom. Erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and exorcise it from the U.S. Constitution. That’s their agenda.

LaPierre did not explain in his speech why the leader of a group whose top priority is defeating President Obama in 2012 would be made privy to this secret plan. Nor did he explain how Obama planned to repeal the Second Amendment will a Congress that passes “pro-gun bills by huge majorities.”

NRA leaders and advocates have been so hard up for evidence that President Obama is anti-gun that they have been citing an Obama-implemented rule that requires gun dealers in some states to report multiple sales of assault weapons to the ATF. That rule would not prevent a single person from getting a firearm.

Here is a look at how most Republican Leaders hypocrisy reigns supreme. While they try to go after Eric Holder, these Republican Leaders and some of their major supporters are opposing a bill that would prevent guns falling in the hands of foreign nationals. Do I have to give a reason why most Republican Leaders would oppose such a bill? You can start with the ‘R’ word for ‘Regulation’.

This bill was sponsored by Rep. Peter “Pete” King [R-NY3] but he is backed by the Democrats in Congress. This bill goes against the Republican Brand or the usual, but more importantly it shows there is a problem with the Gun Control Laws in this country.

*****Here’s a thought if you need such a bill, than apparently you don’t think the Attorney General had the full backing of the land of the law to do his job

H.R. 1506: Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2011

112th Congress, 2011–2012

To increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of a firearm or the issuance of firearms or explosives licenses to a known or suspected dangerous terrorist.

The National Rifle Association and the United States Chamber of Commerce are pouring millions in to lobbying against this bill.

The National Rifle Association has this to say about the Bill

From the NRA’s website: http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/fact-sheets/2011/why-nra-opposes-gun-control-supporters%60.aspx

-S. 34 and H.R. 1506 are aimed primarily at law-abiding American gun owners. Ninety-five percent of watchlisted persons are already prohibited from acquiring firearms in the U.S., because they are not U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens.

-NICS already checks the relevant portion of the watchlist, and denies firearms to watchlisted persons who are prohibited from possessing firearms. Tellingly, S. 34’s and H.R. 1506’s sponsors could not name a single gun crime committed by a watchlisted person who purchased a firearm after passing a NICS check. –As D.C.’s and Chicago’s handgun bans have proven, prohibiting the possession of firearms doesn’t stop criminals from illegally acquiring them.

There would be an enormous potential for abuse, if the FBI were given arbitrary power over a constitutionally-protected right. This would be true even if the FBI had an unblemished record where civil rights are concerned.

Here is a part of the text for H.R. 1506
