Case services is listed several times in DSS funding, but not enough details is released by DSS about this services. From children to adults, foster care case service funding is provided for both. Going back to 2005 a review of the Newberry DSS it gives an ideal of the importance of case services
“Item 3 is an “Area Needing Improvement” for Newberry DSS. This item assesses the appropriateness of the agency’s interventions to prevent the removal of children from their family. Reviewers rated seven of the applicable cases “Strength” for this item. In these cases, services to protect children in the home were appropriately rendered. However in three of the treatment cases the services offered were not sufficient to reduce the risk of harm to the children in the home. In one case services were not offered to both parents. In another case there was no follow-up to determine if the parent (s) participated in recommended treatment”
If we consider this review, even mentioning of case services is brief Newberry DSS review we can surmise case services plays an important area in DSS, even though it’s not refer to regularly. Perhaps a problem that should be rectify, by identifying regularly case services provided.
You will see for the most part case services remain the same, except an increase for foster care and that decrease in funds for Children services.
It has been recently documented that Anderson and Oconee counties has an outstanding amount caseloads that no one expected. Below you will see Governor Nikki Haley propose cut in case services funds for Children Services under Program Management
